Technical Sales Engineer

The candidate for this position will ideally have extensive experience in telecommunications, including its electronic and software components, as well as bleeding edge applications that are delivered through its networks. While knowledge of mobile towers will be helpful, the right candidate will be trained in the company’s products and associated value-equations. This position reports to the EVP of Sales and Business Development.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining products or services to existing and prospective customers

• Talk with customers and engineers at an application level to assess equipment needs and to determine system requirements

• Collaborate with sales directors to understand customer requirements and provide sales support

• Assist sales directors in the preparation of complex price quotations and detailed proposals

• Working with the company’s professional engineering team, plan and modify products to meet customer needs

• Help clients solve problems with installed equipment

• Help in researching and developing new products

Required skills, experiences and temperament include, but are not limited to:

• Expert in writing and editing technical documents, including sales-oriented compelling narrative text

• Expert in verbal communication with executives, engineers, project managers, and procurement staff; via telephone, video, and face-to-face

• At least five years of progressive experience in a technical sales engineering role

• Classically trained in the basic principles of consultative / relationship / strategic / solution selling

• Values communication with customers via voice over e-mail and text

• Cringes at the word “cadence” in the context of sales

• Has a baccalaureate degree, or presents as if they possess a master’s
